Изменения в Windows 7 SP1 - дополнительная поддержка сторонних федеративных служб. В Windows 7 добавлена дополнительная поддержка для обеспечения взаимодействия со сторонними службами федерации (теми, которые поддерживают протокол WS-Federation). Данное изменение призвано увеличить интероперабельность платформы и улучшить возможность взаимодействия информации о идентификации и авторизации между различными организациями. Интеграция и сборка выполнена средствами RT 7 Lite и CDIMAGE. Ничего из образа не вырезано, и кроме SP1 не добавлено.

Более эффективное энергопотребление
SP1 добавляет функцию, позволяющую использовать неизменяемый счетчик Time Stamp Counter (TSC) в режиме пользователя. При использовании рабочих нагрузок, как, например, SQL Server, неизменяемый-TSC предоставляет мультимедиа-таймер высокого разрешения (требуется для таких функций, как OLTP, Data Warehouse Processing и т.д.) с более высокой энергоэффективностью, чем ранее доступные альтернативы.

Изменения в поведении функции "Restore previous folders at logon"
В SP1 изменено поведение функции "Восстановить вид папок после перезагрузки", доступной через диалог Свойства папки. До SP1 папки восстанавливались каскадно в зависимости от положения папки, которая была активной до момента выхода из системы. В SP1 это поведение было изменено так, чтобы все папки восстанавливались в свою предыдущую позицию.

Улучшенная поддержка дополнительных удостоверений в RRAS и IPsec
К полю Identification в протоколе аутентификации IKEv2 добавлены новые типы идентификации. Это изменение добавляет дополнительные формы идентификации (например, E-mail ID или Certificate Subject) при аутентификации по протоколу IKEv2.

Это, конечно же, не все изменения и исправления, которые принесет Windows 7 SP1.
